Textbook

The tutor teaches straight from the textbook, writing on its pages live.

Textbooks live inside the live class as a shared notebook. Each student keeps their own copy to annotate during and after class.

Step by step

From PDF to annotated page

Part 1 of 3

Upload the textbook once

  1. 1

In the live room, the tutor opens the Notebooks tab and uploads the textbook PDF.

Part 2 of 3

Teach straight from the page

  1. 2

The tutor turns to the page they're teaching, or adds blank pages for working.

  2. 3

The tutor writes and highlights on the page, and students see it live in Follow tutor mode.

Part 3 of 3

Keep your own copy

  1. 4

A student switches to My copy to make their own private notes on the same pages.

  2. 5

After class, the student's copy, with their annotations, is still there to revise from.

How it works

One page, two layers

Two layers on every page

Write freely without touching anyone else's page

Each page has the tutor's layer, which everyone sees, and the student's private layer, which only they see. “Follow tutor” shows the tutor's live work read-only; “My copy” lets the student write freely without affecting anyone else.

Per-student notebooks

Check one student's working

The tutor can move between textbook pages and blank pages inside each student's notebook. That suits one-to-one work, or checking a particular student's working in a group.
