Extend class
In the middle of a breakthrough? Keep going for a few more minutes.
When a class reaches its booked end time, the tutor can ask to continue. The extra time is free, and it only happens if the student agrees.
From “time's up” to “just ten more minutes”
Time's up
- 1
At the booked end time, everyone in the room sees a banner: “Class time is up · ends in mm:ss”, counting down a 10-minute grace period.
The tutor asks for more time
- 2
During those 10 minutes the tutor sees Extend class and picks +10, +15 or +30 minutes, or types a custom amount between 1 and 120 minutes.
- 3
The tutor sees “Waiting for the student to accept +N min…”.
The student decides
- 4
The student is asked: “Your tutor would like to continue for another N minutes at no extra charge. Is that okay?” and chooses Accept or Decline.
Keep going, or wrap up
- 5
On Accept, the banner changes to “Extended · mm left” and the class runs to the new end time, then closes automatically.
- 6
On Decline, or no answer within 5 minutes, the offer lapses and the class ends at the end of the grace period.
Extra time, only with a yes
Both sides must agree
Only the tutor (or an admin) can propose an extension, and whoever proposed it can’t accept it. The student always gives consent, which protects them from unexpected over-runs.
How the new end time is set
The extra minutes are added to whichever is later: now, or the current end time. Accepting a little late never shortens the extension.
Ending early works the same way
If the tutor presses End class before the booked end, the student is asked to agree. An admin can end a class immediately without asking.
Everyone sees the same state
The room checks for updates every few seconds, so the banner, countdown and pending offer look the same for every participant.
